Only Good Can Come of This

I could start by trying to answer the question “Why grow an avocado tree?” but I don’t think that’s necessary. Everyone loves avocados. Everyone loves trees. It’s like asking someone why they’d grow a money tree. 

"Uhh… ‘Cause I’m not an idiot."

Of course, then we run into a different problem. Why the hell haven’t I tried growing an avocado tree yet? I can’t answer that one so easily. For the amount of guacamole I’ve eaten over the years the amount of healthy avocado pits I’ve aborted is a damn shame.

But, the way I see it I’ve got lots of time to get self-deprecating in future posts. I’ll hold off for now.

Here’s the real question: Why write a blog about growing an avocado tree?

Now that is a valid question. Plus, I can give you a decent answer.

1.  I’m not alone in this endeavor. After the seed sprouts and is ready to be planted I’ll be handing it over to a more responsible third-party. This space will act as a point of communication to ensure a relationship has already formed once the little guy is ready to move on.
2.  I don’t write for pleasure any more (but I want to). Ever since I started writing for a living I’ve done very little writing of my own. Things probably won’t get wildly creative here, but it will be a space I can say whatever I want and not have to worry about who my audience is or what key messages I need to stick to.
3. Avocados deserve to be written about. I’m not even going to explain that one. We all know it's true.

I’ll keep posts short as to not be annoying. I’ll try to mix up the media so as to be entertaining. I’ll endeavor to be consistent so as to be convenient.
